"Bana Ya Kongo" - Congolese Revolutionary Song [Lyrics + Translation]

This Congolese patriotic anthem calls for the unity of the nation in the midst of the Congo Crisis, a series of civil wars and rebellions from 1960 to 1965, where secessionist states such as Katanga, South Kasai, and the Free Republic of the Congo fought to separate in the wake of the Congo's independence. First pictured is Patrice Lumumba, the first Prime Minister of the DRC, who played a significant role in the fulfillment of the Congo's independence. He was assassinated in 1961, at just 35 years of age. This song is in Lingala, a language apoken in the northern half of the DRC.
