The Grandes Jorasses is the most technically challenging wall in the Alps. Its vertical drop is over 1,200 meters, and the easiest route to the main summit is rated 6A. This wall is one of the Six Great North Faces of the Alps. From June 20 to 22, Kazakhstani climbers Omar Aserbekov, Grigory Shchukin, and Lithuanian Marius Gruzauskas climbed the main summit of the Grandes Jorasses (Pik Walker, 4,208 meters) via the north face, using the Cassina Route, a 6A difficulty grade. They became the first climbers this season to complete this route. Omar and Grigory also became the first Kazakhstani climbers to complete the north face of the Grandes Jorasses.
