Cut Moldings on Wooden Rafter Tails with a Jigsaw
You might think it's impossible to get these rafter tail moldings to come out perfect. However, using the jigsaw with the jig with bearings, we can achieve flawless vertical cuts in wood to craft the rafter tail shapes. True, this technique has some limitations, as the cutting blade heats up and leaves burn marks on the wood when cutting tight curves. Nevertheless, it's astounding to see how well the cuts turn out and how beautifully the moldings I was able to draw and cut look. Throughout the video, I also discuss some techniques, tips and issues that arise when cutting with the jigsaw and this particular woodworking jig. If you are building a pergola for the garden, this carpentry technique will help you decorate the beams with the typical moldings we see at the end of the rafters on wooden frame roofs. I also put this jigsaw jig to the test, making a 90-degree crosscut and a 45 degree miter cut. In both instances, the results were spectacular, with cuts as good as those you'd get using a circular saw. If you're unfamiliar with this jig, I've included a link to the video where I made it on my no-commentary channel: • NEW jigsaw hack to make perfect crosscuts More details and images, plus another video, on my website: https://enredandonogaraxe.club/en/mak...
