Blue Angel pilots speak to media ahead of Pensacola Beach Air Show
PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla. -- The Blue Angels Air Show weekend is underway on Pensacola Beach. The Blues held their practice show Thursday. Their media day was held out at the base. Everyone loved their performance. But quite a few people still were asking about Wednesday morning's low flyover on Pensacola Beach seen by people around the world. It was the elephant in the room at Blue Angel media day. President Donald Trump, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and the Pensacola community all showed their support. But the move sparked a safety review by the Blue Angels. "So we have been taking a heavy look at yesterday to ensure that we are doing things first and foremost safe," Cmdr. Adam Bryan, commanding officer of Navy Blue Angels. "The pilot found himself in an unfortunate situation that we would deem unsafe over the beach. We never intend to fly over the crowd that low. We will heavily debrief that, so 1) we continue to fly safe flight demonstrations and so we learn from those different things from this team." More than 100,000 people are set to flock to the beach to see the civilian acts, military acts, and the Blue Angels fly. "Everyone loves Pensacola Beach week," said Blue Angels #4 Lt. Col. Brandon Wilkins. "It's a wonderful part of the season to be able to come home and have an opportunity to perform here and work from our home spaces. But still have the road crew and the feel of an air show." For the pilots, this year is special. The Blues will be flying during their 80th anniversary season and as America turns 250 years old. #pensacola #news #florida ________________________________________________________________ Follow WEAR on social media: TikTok: / weartv Facebook: / weartv Twitter: / weartv Instagram: / weartv Newsletter sign-up: https://weartv.com/sign-up Have a tip?
