In this video I talk about the importance of using tuning slides, the main slide, the third piston slide and the first piston slide. There is no rule regarding how much to open the slides, you should take your instrument and practice with a tuner playing long notes, intervals, scales, some parts of songs, etc., then you will check your tuning, both the general tuning and the notes I mention in the video. It is important that you know each instrument you have so you are not caught off guard in any given situation. Important to remember; tuning varies considerably depending on the ambient temperature, in our case if it is cold and freezing the tuning tends to be low... and in the heat the opposite, it tends to be a little high.
