Soda poured into water cup led to shooting inside West Palm Beach Taco Bell, police say

What started as an argument over using a water cup for soda quickly spiraled into gunfire inside a West Palm Beach Taco Bell, police said. Officers were called around noon on April 27 to the Taco Bell at Military Trail and 45th Street after reports of shots being fired inside the restaurant, according to the probable cause affidavit released on Tuesday. When police arrived, crime scene tape surrounded the building as multiple units responded to what investigators later described as a rapidly escalating confrontation. According to police, three women entered the restaurant and asked for a cup of water. Investigators said one of the women then filled the cup at a soda fountain, which led to a verbal argument with an employee, identified as 20-year-old D’Mari Jy’Quan Patterson.
