Kein Witz – der GAG ist wieder da! (Güterzuggattungen in Deutschland)

The train categories used in freight transport are among the least-noticed aspects of railway operations. Even before World War II, the Deutsche Reichsbahn (East German State Railway) used abbreviations like Sg (Schnellgüterzug – express freight train), Dg (Durchgangsgüterzug – through freight train), or the Gag (Ganzgüterzug – complete freight train), which is the focus of this film. These abbreviations continued to be used for decades by the two state railways in divided Germany. It was only after privatization that a veritable carousel of train categories began to spin, in which complete trains were also thoroughly reorganized: After several timetable periods as KC/KCL/GC (KomplettCargo – complete cargo), CFx/CHL/CS (CompleteTrain), and GA/GB/GC, etc. (complete trains for specific market segments), we are now back in the 1990s: Since the timetable change in December 2020, the good old Gag is once again called GAG. 'Gag' was renamed GAG, 'Ganzgüterzug' ...' which is the focus of this film, 'Ganzgüterzug', 'Ganzgüterzug',' 'Ganzgüterzug',' 'Ganzgüterzug',' 'Ganzgüterzug',' 'Ganzgüterzug',' 'Ganzgüterzug', 'Ganzgüterzug',' 'Ganzgüterzug',' 'Ganzgüterzug',' 'Ganzgüterzug', 'Ganzgüterzug',' 'Ganzgüterzug', 'Ganzgüterzug',' 'Ganzgüterzug', 'Ganzgüterzug',' Although the focus of this video is on unit trains, the developments of other freight train categories, shaped by the (railway) zeitgeist, are not neglected; changes in passenger train traffic are also touched upon.
