Verse 1 Some folks drive a tractor through a field of summer corn, Some punch a clock at daylight till the evening whistle’s blown. Some teach little children how to read and how to pray, Some walk through prison hallways trying to brighten someone’s day. There are times we get discouraged when the harvest can’t be seen, Wonder if our labor really means a single thing. But the Father gently whispers through His everlasting Word, “Child, don’t forget Who you’re working for.” Chorus I’m serving the King, though the world may never know, Planting little seeds of faith wherever I may go. Whether driving down the highway or kneeling down to pray, Every act of love becomes an offering today. I don’t need the applause, I don’t need the praise they bring, If my Heavenly Father smiles, I’m serving the King. Verse 2 Paul and Silas sang at midnight with their backs against the wall, Joseph served in chains and still trusted through it all. The widow gave two small coins that seemed so very small, Yet Heaven saw her sacrifice and treasured it all. So I’ll keep on being faithful when the road is long and steep, For the Lord of every harvest keeps account of every seed. What looks like wasted effort in the eyes of mortal men, May become a mighty harvest in God’s perfect plan. Chorus I’m serving the King, though the world may never know, Planting little seeds of faith wherever I may go. Whether driving down the highway or kneeling down to pray, Every act of love becomes an offering today. I don’t need the applause, I don’t need the praise they bring, If my Heavenly Father smiles, I’m serving the King. Bridge When I hand a hurting soul a Bible and a prayer, When I share a word of hope with someone in despair, The Lord reminds me softly, “Child, you’re not alone. Every cup of water given is remembered at My throne.” Final Chorus I’m serving the King, and that’s enough for me, Faithful in the little things that only Heaven sees. When my race on earth is over and eternity begins, I long to hear Him say, “Well done, My faithful friend.” No greater reward could all the treasures of earth bring, Than hearing Jesus call my name— And knowing I was serving the King. Tag Whatever you do, do it heartily, unto the Lord… Serving the King.
