Was King Æthelred Really Unready?
Most people when they think of the Anglo-Saxon King Æthelred think of Danegeld, genocide and a perpetual state of being unready for the next Viking raid. But in this series of videos on why King Æthelred did nothing wrong, I'd like to challenge this view in several ways and bring some nuance to this, in my opinion, overly hated figure from the Anglo-Saxon past. *Note: This video is over 6 years old! It was recorded back in 2019 but never uploaded, becoming lost somewhere in my uploads. Now, after all this time, it will see the light of day. Hope you enjoy a bit of vintage Hilbert!
