Wakulla Springs - River Boat Waltz -

#nature, #environment, #rivers, Wakulla Springs is an amazing place to visit in the Florida Big Bend. These unique springs gush out 300 millions gallons of water per day and it is considered one of the biggest, if not the biggest, spring system in the world. The water surfaces from a vast network of underground channels, the longest mapped cave system in United States, at a constant temperature of 70 degrees all year round. The watershed that supplies water to Wakulla Springs is estimated about a thousand square miles to include North Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. The Wakulla River originates at the main spring then flows 11 miles south to join the Saint Mark River before entering the Gulf. In the park side of the river the ecosystem is preserved at its best and south of the boat tour turnaround there is a stretch of river extremely protected, off limits to the park visitors, rangers included. The crystal clear, temperate water is the natural habitat for manatees, alligators, fish and an infinity of bird species, Florida insects part of it too. The impressive Bold Cypresses with their knees emerging from the swampy banks and more in general the entire vegetation give an appearance of ancient, an earth view lost in the eons of time. Visit Wakulla Spring and take the 50-minutes breathtaking boat ride, it will worth your time and your money. Enjoy.
