The SEAT Ibiza is a hatchback vehicle produced by the Spanish brand SEAT since 1984. It is SEAT's best-selling model.[1] The name comes from the Spanish island of Ibiza, and its use in this model was the second time the brand had a name derived from a Spanish city, after the SEAT Ronda. It was shown at the Paris Motor Show in 1984 as the first car developed by SEAT as an independent brand, although it was designed by SEAT in collaboration with other well-known companies such as Italdesign, Karmann and Porsche.[1] Since the second generation, SEAT has been part of the German Volkswagen group, and all generations of the Ibiza, as well as other SEAT models, have been built on Volkswagen group platforms and with its parts and technologies. The Ibiza currently has 5 generations. The versions sold in Portugal since 2005 were the 1.4 16V in Reference and Stylance versions, the five-door 1.6 16V Reference, the three-door 1.6 Sport, and the 1.9 TDI Reference and Stylance versions.
