Gospel of the day Monday, July 27, 2026 Audio Gospel of the day in Italian with commentary by    / @frastefano   Liturgy of the Word today, from the Gospel according to Matthew Glory to you, O Lord Mt 13:31-35 Jesus put before the crowds another parable, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches." He told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour until it was all leavened." Jesus spoke all these things to the crowds in parables; and without parables he did not speak to them, so that what had been spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled: "I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden since the foundation of the world." The Word of the Lord Praise to you, O Christ How can we fix this somewhat broken world? Sometimes we think that to change our lives or the world, we need enormous gestures, immediate results, vast means. But Jesus says that a little leaven hidden in the flour is enough. A little, almost invisible. Yet capable of transforming the entire dough. It's the same in spiritual life. A person who takes five minutes every day to pray perhaps thinks they're doing little. A mother who continues to speak softly in a tense home perhaps thinks she's changing nothing. A man who decides to stop responding angrily, a person who starts greeting again, forgiving, doing their job well and honestly... they seem like small things. But that's how the Gospel works: it enters slowly and transforms everything from within. Yeast doesn't make noise. It works in silence. God often works this way in our lives. While we get discouraged because we don't see immediate results, He is already making something grow within us. Maybe today you feel small, tired, or think you don't have enough strength to change things. But Jesus would tell you: don't despise the little good you manage to do. A small act of love can begin a huge transformation. A kind word can lift a person up. A faithful prayer can change your heart. Don't stop being leaven. Even if you don't feel seen. Even if the world seems harsh. God knows how to make what we lovingly entrust to Him grow.
