Punch and Judy celebration Covent Garden London

Punch and Judy puppeteers from all over the world gather to celebrate the first recorded performance of the famous puppet in Covent Garden London 350 years ago. In 1662 the diarist Samuel Pepys recorded that he had seen a puppet display outside St Paul's Church. 350 years later Mr Punch and his wife Judy are still going strong. The weekend of 12-13 May 2012 saw a gathering of puppeteers to celebrate the longevity of Mr Punch at Covent Garden Piazza on Saturday with the Big Grin Party and on Sunday with the traditional annual May Fayre in St Paul's Church Gardens.
