Winging It Week 31 | Introduction to Weaving | Textile Art Techniques For Beginners
It's Winging It Week 31. It's another Week 5 project, where we explore textile art techniques and this month, I thought it would be fun to have an introduction to weaving. I am by no means a weaving expert. In this video we will look at some of the basic skills involved in weaving. The focus is playing with texture and experimenting with colour, so have fun and feel free to try whatever inspires you. We are looking at weaving through an embroidery lens, so I have made some adaptations to traditional loom weaving techniques to make something that will work for our book. I know many of my methods aren't standard, but they did work for what I was trying to achieve, so feel free to take or leave the methods I use if you have a different system or have more experience. To play along you will need: 20x20cm felt square Waste fabric such as canvas or linen Tacking cotton A sewing needle and thread Large embroidery hoop or frame Heat erase pen Strong sewing cotton to make the warp threads A range of weaving materials - wool, yarn, threads, roving, fabric strips, ribbon, sari silk, paper strips, twigs, dried branches... whatever inspires you A blunt needle A comb or fork Scissors Have fun and don't forget to tag me if you post your creations. I would love to see what you make. Visit my shop: https://featherstitchhouse.co.uk/shop Get my table clamp here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Elbesee-Vers...
