The world is entering a prolonged and potentially violent transition, but Pakistan’s ruling structure is still trying to preserve an order that is rapidly disappearing. Stability in the emerging world will not depend on military strength alone; it will require economic resilience, public support and the political flexibility to adapt. Pakistan currently lacks all three. JD Vance’s public criticism of Israeli lobbying may represent more than a disagreement over Iran. It could signal a widening divide between Donald Trump and the Republican establishment over Netanyahu, America’s Middle East strategy and the approaching elections. If Trump attempts to delay or discredit the electoral process, America itself could enter dangerous territory—creating opportunities for China and Russia while weakening Washington globally. At the same time, renewed Houthi activity and a possible crisis around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait could force Saudi Arabia deeper into the conflict and eventually raise serious questions for Pakistan under its defence commitments. Any Pakistani involvement would intensify domestic instability without resolving the actual regional dispute. Inside Pakistan, pressure is already building through economic volatility, terrorism, opposition mobilisation, the AJK dispute and Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s increasingly aggressive position. The central question is whether the power structure will recognise the changing reality and loosen its grip—or continue protecting an old system until it finally hits the wall.
