THEORY के बाद SHORTHAND किस तरह ?

Hello friends, As we all know, once a person starts learning shorthand, his/her expectations also start to get a job, preferably Government job, at the earliest. Expecting a return after a reasonable time is natural and that is the reason for learning. But at the same time, unless one has done the theory and practical of shorthand in a proper way and, of course, with a good typing speed, one cannot become good stenographer. Having spent decades in this specific skill, I thought of sharing my views for the benefit of the viewers on how to do shorthand after completing theory book. First of all, let us understand that the type of theory book, I mean its quality and the hard work put in by the candidate plays an important part in doing shorthand after theory. These days many shortcuts are available in the market to attract the candidates to learn the theory of the shorthand in the shortest possible time. Once they finish that part, they start expecting to finish the practical part and get a job. It is happening because of the lack of knowledge on their part and they being not prepared or willing to give the adequate time to learn the theory. Some are not even exactly aware of the need for learning of good typing. We need to also understand that the practical of shorthand needs more time than theory to attain the minimum speed of 80 wpm and rather more if someone wants to attain 100 wpm and above. Now coming to the steps involved after theory, I am mentioning the same below:- Start a shorthand magazine, preferably Kailash Chandra magazine and do small seen passages of say 200 words at 40/50 wpm in the beginning minimum for a fortnight. Practice the words and phrases properly for 3-4 hours daily. After you are comfortable with the above go for 400 words at the same speed for some time in the same manner, say for another minimum a fortnight. After a month, start transcription of unseen passages of 200 words at 40/50 wpm from the same magazine. The complete cycle of transcription needs to be done as explained in one of my videos with practice of words and phrases for 3-4 hours in a day. Go to the next step after you are comfortable at that speed with good accuracy. Increase the number of words by 100 and speed by 10 wpm every month After six months, you may reach a level of transcribing 600-800 words @ 80 wpm. After attaining 80 wpm speed, do other magazines, like progressive shorthand and speeches of the President/PM. Do one unseen transcription daily. Focus on quality and not quantity. As far as possible, do transcription on computer and get a print. Do typing also to improve the quality and time of the transcription. The nature and quality of theory done would be of great help in acquiring good speed at a later date including your vocab and knowledge or command of language. I have seen people who adopted short-cuts in theory suffered a lot in gaining speed in shorthand I hope the above contents would be of help to you.
