MPC X-Wing, 40th Anniversary of Star Wars model kits
In the spring of 1978, the first Star Wars model kits were issued by Model Plastics Corporation (MPC), at the time owned by General Mills, the same company that also owned the Kenner toy company. Fourty years later, I take a look at what many consider to be the flagship of the MPC Star Wars model kit line, the original X-Wing Starfighter. This kit was in production from 1978 until the very early 2000s. Many were happy to see the k In this video I briefly cover the history of the MPC X-Wing and look at differences between the original domestic US kit release and a foreign kit release from Canada (there are differences). Then I focus on a recent built I did of an original issue X-Wing kit from 1978 to make a model of the Red Leader X-Wing from the first Star Wars film and detail it like the studio model.
