Mother Neff State Park - Let’s RV in a Texas Freeze!
#traveltrailer #texas #winter #winterstorm #cats #texasstateparks #motherneffstatepark Mother Neff State Park - RV’ing in a Texas Freeze! It was bound to happen at some point…. Winter camping. Extreme winter camping. For us anyway. Growing up in Texas, particularly South Texas, we have maybe a freeze or two a year. And I mean a deep freeze. The Winter Storm came and went through San Antonio but ALAS….it sort of just lingered around Central and North Texas. Where we were headed. Fun, fun, fun, right? Turns out it kind of was! And an eye-opener. Mother Neff State Park lies about 170 miles North of us and after a delay of one day due to the weather and road conditions, we decided to go for it. And what we experienced wasn’t as bad as I thought. We prepped for it after all. This is the OG of Texas State Parks. The foundation from which all other State Parks would follow. I'll get into that. It’s special, it’s historical and it was cold as all get out. Unfortunately, most of it was closed. The three main attractions (wash pond, observation tower and the cave) were not able to be accessed because of the icy conditions of the trail system leading to them. The road leading to them was also shut off. So we had a nice relaxing time just hanging out and realizing we don’t do enough of that. This is not a thorough video on Mother Neff State Park but I hope you enjoy what I was able to put together. Not an easy task given the fact that we basically had the area around the camping loop available and that was about it. We couldn’t even dine-in at DQ. We liked this place, we had a nice visit from one of my oldest and dearest friends while we were there and the rest of the time we got to experience a Texas freeze in an RV. This was our waypoint to Lake Whitney State Park for the 4th Annual Dillo Daze Event hosted by DudeRV. Stay tuned for that video sometime in the near future. So sit back and enjoy our video of Mother Neff State Park.
