The Vault Edge Story - DW & Sabian Unite to Make a Very Unique Snare Drum

Years in the making, The Vault Edge is a cooperative effort combining Sabian's proprietary cymbal alloy and DW's patented Edge snare drum technology. The result is a distinctive instrument that marries a centuries-old cymbal recipe with today's latest methods in drum making. Each Edge ring is cast in California using actual re-purposed Sabian cymbals played by Sabian artists. The rings are machined to aircraft-quality specifications and press-fit onto a wood core made from ten plies of several-hundred-year-old Lake Birch. The turret lugs, MAG throw-off system and 3mm steel True Hoops™ are plated in custom Antique Bronze and the wood core is finished in natural matte lacquer Hard Satin. The 6x14" drum's earthy appearance is consistent with its dry, warm tonality. Only fifty Collector's Series Vault Edge snare drums will ever be produced.
