"Alerta, Katipunan!" - Filipino Revolutionary March (c. 1890s)
"Alerta, Katipunan!" is a Filipino march that dates back to the Philippine Revolution of 1896-1898. It was adopted by the revolutionaries based on Teodoro Villapol's "Voluntarios ¡Viva España!", the march of the pro-Spanish military units Voluntarios Leales (Loyal Volunteers). Various lyrics and variations in Spanish and Tagalog have been used by both pro and anti-Spanish forces. This rendition was arranged for rondalla by Juan Silos, Jr. For more in dept readings on the history of "Alerta, Katipunan!" and its variants, read Im Walde's blog here: https://vesteel.blogspot.com/2021/11/... --------------- SOURCES Audio recording: https://mlq3.tumblr.com/post/18727243...
