Alpine, a name synonymous with numerous motorsport successes. Yet somehow, Alpine also evokes a connection to the mountains. And indeed, on the winding mountain roads, the Alpine is in its element. This is especially true in summer and on dry asphalt. Because one thing is certain: the Alpine and winter will never form a close friendship. The sports car simply wasn't designed for it. Icy cold and snow down to the lowest elevations. The Alpine is ready for a test drive. The initial hesitation is quickly overcome. Snow removed, windows scraped, and off we go. The 1.8-liter four-cylinder mid-engine awakens with a sonorous roar after pressing the start-stop button. This is thanks to the Akrapovic titanium exhaust system fitted in this case. The sound is enticing. However, the very first touch of the accelerator reveals that the Alpine 110 GTS is anything but easy to control in these conditions. The rear-wheel drive and the 221 kW (300 hp) acting upon it make the lightweight, weighing just over 1,100 kilograms, dance nimbly on the slippery surface.
