Being guided by the heart leads us to reflect on the danger of making decisions based solely on our emotions, our logic, or circumstances. Through the story of Elimelech in the book of Ruth, we see how a decision made based on what seemed convenient—leaving Bethlehem for Moab—ultimately brought pain, loss, and ruin to his family. In this teaching, we discover that when we follow our own hearts instead of God's will, we can stray from His divine purpose. But we also see that God's grace is always ready to restore those who choose to return to Him, just as it did with Naomi. This challenging message encourages us to stop being guided by our emotions and learn to walk under the guidance of the Word and the Holy Spirit.
