The Young Altmühl - Motorhome Tour Altmühl Valley Part 1 - From the Source to Lake Altmühl We begin our motorhome tour through the Altmühl Valley on the Franconian Heights. It was to be the start of a beautiful tour along the almost 230-kilometer-long river from the Altmühl's source to its confluence with the Rhine in Kehlheim. First of all, we set out to find the source of the Altmühl, not so easy, as there are many possible locations. From the Hirschteich pond, we travel to the Hohnauer Weiher pond and continue along the young Altmühl to Herresried and Leutershausen. Passing the ruins of the St. Salvator church, we reach Lake Altmühl. The Motorhome Tour Altmühl Valley On our motorhome tour through the Altmühl Valley, we want to follow the Altmühl from its source to its mouth. We begin our tour in search of the actual source, which is not so easy, and spend the first night at the beautiful, quiet campervan site in Burgbernheim. The journey begins with a leisurely drive through the beautiful region of the young Altmühl River, then into the significantly deeper valley of the middle Altmühl, and finally into the most famous section of the lower Altmühl. Our motorhome tour concludes in Kehlheim, where the Danube and the Altmühl converge. A diverse tour lies ahead, offering many fascinating places and sights.
