The history of the Cavalry Guards Regiment, which began under Peter the Great, did not end with the Revolution of 1917. The officers of one of the most brilliant regiments of the Russian Imperial Life Guards who survived two wars continued the 200-year history, creating a unique association in exile—the "Cavalry Guards Family." RFI's Russian editorial team visited Georgy Bibikov, the last member of the "Cavalry Guards Family," in Paris. A retired French engineer and a hereditary Russian nobleman, Georgy Valerianovich is the keeper of the living memory of the Cavalry Guards, their history and fate, and the special brotherhood and spirit they preserved through all trials. Georgy Bibikov, along with Finnish historian Vera Ferzen, co-authored a book on the history of the famous regiment. The Russian version of the work, "Cavalry Guards in the Service of Russia," was published in Estonia in 2019. The conversation was recorded on the eve of Georgy Valerianovich's 100th birthday, which he celebrated on February 1, 2020.
