Early Life Linda Ann Gray was born on September 12, 1940, in Santa Monica, California, United States. She grew up in a normal American family with her older sister, Betty. Although Linda had a happy childhood in many ways, life was not always easy. Her father struggled with alcohol addiction, and this created many difficult moments for the family. Linda was a shy child. She loved drawing, reading, and spending time with friends. Even though her family had problems, she learned to stay positive and focus on the future. She enjoyed school but never imagined that one day she would become one of television's biggest stars. Beginning Her Career After finishing school, Linda started working as a model. Because of her natural beauty, graceful appearance, and confidence, modeling agencies quickly noticed her. She appeared in many advertisements, catalogs, and television commercials.
