Review: VW ID.Polo GTI | Der wird richtig spaßig!

Just in time for the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, VW is unveiling its newest GT offspring. With the VW ID. Polo GTI, the three letters are going electric for the first time. But this isn't supposed to diminish the driving fun – quite the opposite. True to its GTI heritage, it's a front-wheel-drive vehicle, complete with an electronically controlled front differential lock. The adaptive DCC chassis is also standard. In total, the sporty electric car boasts 226 hp and 290 Nm of torque and is said to sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.8 seconds. The top speed is listed at 115 mph (175 km/h). The 52 kWh battery can be charged at up to 105 kW and enables a range of up to 200 miles (424 km) according to WLTP. Its market launch is planned for 2027, and the starting price is expected to be well under €40,000. Editor Leslie Schraut presents the VW ID.
