Bed bath with linen change DEFINITION: This is the cleansing of the body with soap and water, along with a change of bed linens, when the person being cared for is unable to do so themselves. OBJECTIVES: • To keep the skin clean • To stimulate blood circulation in order to produce muscle relaxation and prevent pressure ulcers • To help maintain hygiene habits MATERIALS: Tray with: • 1 kidney basin with soapy solution • Large and small cotton swabs • 1 bedpan • 1 washbasin • 1-2 pitchers of warm water • 1 bath towel (patient's) and/or sheet • 1 sponge (if possible, from the person being cared for) • 1 waste container • 2 pairs of procedure gloves • 2 clean sheets • 1 sheet • 1 privacy screen • Plastic bag (for soiled laundry) Other: (Personal) Soap, toothpaste, 1 glass of water, toothbrush, comb, cologne Deodorant, paper towels, moisturizer, razor.
