Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John. Glory to you, Lord. 1 On the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb of Jesus, very early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. 2 So she ran and went to find Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 11 Mary stood outside the tomb weeping. As she wept, she bent over and looked into the tomb. 12 She saw two angels in white, seated where the body of Jesus had been, one at the head and the other at the feet. 13 The angels asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” She answered, “They have taken my Lord away, and I don’t know where they have put him.” 14 Having said this, Mary turned around and saw Jesus standing there. But she did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who are you looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, Mary said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” 16 Then Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned toward him and cried out in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher). 17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father.
