Taskforce Horizon press conference May 2026
A renewed search at Oak Park Station for evidence into the disappearance of four-year-old Gus Lamont has concluded. Despite more than 30km of waterways and creeks being searched by Taskforce Horizon detectives and STAR Group officers over the past three days, no new evidence has been uncovered. The search, which was the eleventh conducted since Gus disappeared from Oak Park Station on 27 September 2025, also involved examining several wells and bores in the area following recent heavy rain and flooding on the property. Major Crime Investigation Branch Officer in Charge Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke said Taskforce Horizon would continue searching for evidence with fresh aerial surveying to be conducted over a large area of the property. “We have previously conducted aerial searching out to a 15km radius from the homestead, including the use of drones. All of the captured footage has been the subject of AI analysis,’’ he said. “Much like this week’s ground search given the recent weather event, we are taking the opportunity to search this area again using the aerial platforms." "This is will to occur in the coming weeks and once again, we will take advantage of AI technology to analyse the captured footage." “If this analysis identifies new areas of interest, we will return to conduct further searching.’’ Supt. Fielke also revealed the results of forensic testing on items seized from Oak Park Station when a search warrant was executed on January 14 and 15 2026 by detectives. The items, which included a vehicle, motorcycle and electronic devices, were seized during a comprehensive search of the homestead. “The results of the forensic examinations have not provided any new lines of inquiry or advanced the investigation. These examinations have also not eliminated anyone from the investigation,’’ Det. Supt. Fielke said. Supt. Fielke thanked the public for the overwhelming support and information provided to Taskforce Horizon. This has included 527 calls to Crime Stoppers, 65 emails, seven letters and 202 phone calls to police with information. Anyone with any information on Gus Lamont’s disappearance is urged to contact Crime stoppers online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au or free call 1800 333 000.
