A man who vowed to remain on course and who prioritized the fight for freedom of speech in Belarus. Andrzej Poczobut is a journalist and active member of the Union of Poles in Belarus. On February 8, 2023, a court in Grodno sentenced him to eight years in a maximum-security prison. Negotiations for his release included representatives from Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan, as well as the US President's Special Envoy for Belarus. On April 28, 2026, Andrzej Poczobut regained his freedom, but shortly after leaving the labor camp, he announced his intention to return to Belarus.
