What is Historical Fiction For? | The Baron in the Trees

Last summer I had the pleasure of reading Italo Calvino's 1957 novel, The Baron in the Trees. Not only that, but I got to read it, primarily, underneath some really cool trees. Since then, I've kept thinking about it, its unique blend of historical fiction with magical-realist fantasy, and the way that it seemed to be more so an artifact of the 18th century it is written about more so than the mid-20th century it was written in. My biggest regret with this video is not the poor audio quality, or the fact that I never look at the camera, but that I forgot to put it in a 4x3 aspect ratio!!!
