Mahsa Amini's mother pays tribute to daughter one year on from death - BBC News
Mahsa Amini's mother Mojgan Eftekhari has given her first interview, following the death of her daughter one year ago. Mahsa died in September 2022 after she was detained by Iran’s morality police in Tehran. It sparked unprecedented protests across the country. She had been accused of not wearing her hijab [veil] properly. Witnesses said the 22-year-old was beaten while in custody, but authorities denied she was mistreated and instead blamed "sudden heart failure" for her death.
