In 1992, I walked the streets of Northampton with a Hi8 video camera, capturing the town centre as it was—its buildings, streets, and the hidden history written into their architecture. More than thirty years later, I’ve returned to that original footage, restoring it with a newly recorded narration based on my original script, and enriching it with period photographs and historical context. This film is both a time capsule and a guided tour: a record of Northampton’s historic streets before redevelopment, and a reflection on how the town has evolved.
