My Uber driver canceled my ride because of my guide dog! So frustrating!

First of all, I just want to say even though this was a negative experience, I absolutely love Uber and appreciate the service they provide. I have been taking Uber for five years, and out of the several hundreds of rides, I can thankfully say The positive experiences definitely outweighs the negative ones. However, as a completely blind individual who uses a guide dog to travel independently, who already faces many great challenges every single day without eyesight, this is just one more thing that unfortunately I would love not having to worry about. For anyone who does not understand my situation, please hear me out, I’m not trying to be difficult. If someone truly had a reason for canceling because of my guide dog, I would have so appreciated a phone call/text message or even a personal explanation upon arrival for why they could not give me and my beautiful guiding angel a ride. I am an individual who operates with a heart full of grace and joy, but seriously, when people just up and leave me standing outside completely blind with no explanation, it is extremely frustrating to say the least. For those of you who are saying that the driver could have had allergies to dogs, here is Uber‘s policy for their drivers which can be found on their website. State and federal law prohibit driver-partners using the Uber Driver App from denying service to riders with service animals because of the service animals, and from otherwise discriminating against riders with service animals. As explained in Uber’s Non-Discrimination Policy, driver-partners who engage in discriminatory conduct in violation of this legal obligation will lose their ability to use the Driver App.
