Mid-Norfolk Railway Diesel Gala 2026 | 23-24th May 2026

After the cancellation of the annual Steam Gala at the Mid-Norfolk Railway for 2026, the first big event of the year was to be the Annual Diesel Gala instead. As per the usual dates the event takes place on the late May Bank Holiday weekend allowing a good three days of running where everyone can enjoy. This year would be no different but would be a scorcher in the weather. Two visitors would join the usual 3 locomotives from the home fleet, this year being Europhoenix Class 37s 37407 and 37611. 37407 being the one I was excited for as I adore BR Large Logo Blue on a 37 so I was eager to attend multiple days...... to which I usually do anyway! Also this year in the home fleet would be 47580s first event without any purple, which it has adorned since the late Queens Platinum Jubilee. All the purple has been replace with black which I much prefer. The "fictionalised" livery remains as it was repainted in support of the Ukraine War. This year I attended just two instead of three days as the Monday I was occupied with other commitments but instead this time, I had a day on the railway on the first day and the second day I was linesiding (I usually do it the other way round). Come to think of it afterwards, maybe it was a bad idea due to the heat and them Mk3s having Air Con would've helped! I chose to lineside on Day 2 as 37407 was the 37 in use for the majority of the day with 37611 taking the reins on Monday and both on the Saturday. There is two clips that feature on the Saturday, mainly as I wanted to see the triple header formed of 37611, 37407 and 47596. Anyway enough rambling, this years gala was brilliant and roll on next year!
