The Duellists - Realistic Movie Sword Fight
The Duelists is a flawless film, like a cinema time machine. The swordplay is not conventional Hollywood and the film is a visual masterpiece. Enjoy! *Historical Note - for those curious about the elevated shed - My love for this film led me to visit the Dordogne region of France where this scene was filmed. The storage shed was built on a floodplain and the pilings go down 10 feet. It was torn down shortly after this was filmed. The rolling hills and regular flooding from the Dordogne River has created a multitude of fertile river-floodplain fields making this area one of France's most bountiful farming regions and a visual delight, almost like a fairy land. Prehistoric human artifacts going back 200,000 years have been found in this area.
