Hiking the Camino in Fall | Part 1 | Via Podiensis - GR 65
In October 2022, I started my first Camino in Le Puy-en-Velay. I followed the Via Podiensis (aka GR 65) (750km) all the way to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, then the Camino Francés (780km). After reaching Santiago, I went to Fisterra and Muxía via the Camino Fisterra (120km). From Figeac, you have three options: the main trail, on the GR 65 , the Célé alternate and the Rocamadour alternate. As I was collecting data for a hiking app, I did the three of them. There are many Camino ways in France, but there are four main ones, leaving from Le Puy-en-Velay, Paris, Vézelay and Arles. The one starting in Le Puy is by far the most famous and popular one in France. There are also a lot of different Camino ways in Spain, but the Camino Francés is the main one. It's usually the one people think of when saying "the" Camino. It became insanely popular and busy, but doing it in November was perfect. It was social enough, but not crazy busy, the weather was still ok, the autumn colours were here... If I had to do the Camino Francés again (and I will, because I loved it), I would do the same. I thought that doing the Camino Fisterra was the done thing, but it's actually very quiet after Santiago. It's definitely worth it though. It's beautiful, makes for an epic finnish and allows you to enjoy that Camino magic for a few more days.

Sould you hike the Via Podiensis of the CAMINO DE SANTIAGO ? (GR 65)
