Great Start to Jetty Fishing Season 2026 | Giant Black Rockfish in PNW (03/28/2026)

Today the tide was around 4 ft and the wind was blowing 15 MPH from the north, so I decided to hit the north jetty to take advantage of the wind and get longer casts. That turned out to be a great decision—I landed 3 giant black rockfish in just 2 hours, all over 15 inches and close to 3 lbs. Rockfish and lingcod become active when the water warms up. In Washington state, you can get black rockfish (Sea bass) and lingcod at Westport jetty, Ocean Shores jetty and Cape disappointment jetty. Jetty fishing can be very productive, but it's dangerous at the same time, be sure you have a pair of good shoes which can hold the ground.
