#07 "Prest-O Change-O" MiniPro TL866 Mods — Part 1: Upgrade FW from CS to A

🚨PLEASE READ THE WARNINGS & NOTES BELOW🚨 TOOL TALK #2 — Do you have a MiniPro TL866CS* and find that you could use the In-Circuit Serial Programming functions of its cousin, the TL866A? Well, if you are willing to risk bricking your device, you can watch how I upgraded the firmware here. **NOTE — REVISED STEP 9 at 8:26 — Now, you must check *ON the Code protection bit checkbox setting and click the Write button next to it. This will set the CP0 bit of the PIC from the programmer and should protect the programmer from being accidentally reprogrammed with an unsupported firmware version. ***NOTE — February 2018 — there is a new TL866 IC programmer available, the "TL866II Plus" with ICSP header as standard, NAND flash support, VCC voltage range 1.8V-6.5V, pin detection and more. I would recommend purchasing this new model — they are selling on eBay (https://ebay.to/2DSk536) and AliExpress (https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Deu.... ***NOTE — The firmware upgrade outlined in this video IS NOT compatible with the new TL866II Plus programmer. 🚨 *************** IMPORTANT WARNING *****************************************************🚨 Do not under any circumstances update to version v6.80 of the firmware/client software that was released on July 20, 2018 -- IT WILL BRICK YOUR TL866.
