Engineering a Guitar Pedal From Scratch (Because Buying One Is Too Easy)

Why spend $50 on a commercial overdrive pedal when you can spend weeks simulating circuits, programming AI nodes, modeling enclosures, and sanding plastic until your fingertips go completely numb? In this video, I break down the entire process of engineering a custom overdrive pedal from scratch. We start in the software world with circuit simulation in EveryCircuit, use ComfyUI to generate a custom graphic of my garage companion (Slash the poodle), design the layout in Adobe Illustrator, 3D print a heavy-duty white PLA Plus enclosure, and wire it all up cleanly using dedicated connection pins on the perfboard. Stick around for the final assembly, a highly sophisticated copyright-avoidance dance, and a tone test that completely ruins my dog’s afternoon.
