2 years of Self-Sufficiency and Rural Life: Enjoying, simplicity, serenity and healthy organic food
Time has flown so fast. We can't believe it's been two years since we chose to start living this awesome life. In this video, we share with you what made us choose this life, how we started, the experience so far, including all the challenges faced. We hope this will encourage those who may want to live a self-sufficiency life in the village to just start when their time is right. There are several reasons that made us chose to which include wanting to grow our own organic food, the serenity and simplicity of village life on a farm, the space for our kids to play and experience life outside the house and satisfaction of farming both plants and keeping animals and what it does to the human spirit. The first step was to build a comfortable home in the village. the house had to have all the amenities of a modern home. The house is still not complete the way we would want it, but it's comfortable. We discuss the challenges in the video. The next part was to make the compound where we can sit and enjoy the sun and play with the kids. We take you through planting of grass, trees and flowers. Then, we discuss the poultry part. The first poultry we started with, the chicken coops and how we advanced to better structures with the growing population. We discuss the secret that has kept our chicken healthy and led to a population explosion and how we handled that. Next, we discuss the garden. How we found the soil and what we did to restore fertility. The fruit trees we planted and the vegetables we started with. We discuss the challenges we faced initially with different crops and how we overcame the challenges. We the various vegetables that do well here and also the new crops we introduced to the village and the impact on our neighbours. Finally, we discuss our plans for year three of self-sufficiency. We tell you about our plans to expand the size of the farm, the new crops we will introduce and the new animals we will be bringing to the farm. This video is a must watch for anyone who is thinking of embarking on a self-sufficiency journey, those who have just started or even anyone who started and is thinking of giving because of any reason at all. Self-sufficiency is a beautiful life. It is very rewarding to grow your own food organically. Life in the village is simple and serene. It gives you peace of mind and body. You become one with nature. The village is beautiful, green with lots of trees and flowers. It's a blessing to wake up to the sound of birds chirping.
