Ichiro attended "Ichiro FIELD DREAM DAY," an event promoting the joy of sports, alongside tennis player Kei Nishikori and former Japanese soccer player Atsuto Uchida. Each player was in charge of their own sport, and in the morning they taught children with relatively little experience in sports the joy of their respective sport. In the afternoon, they provided practical instruction for children aiming for a higher level. In between, there was a segment where Ichiro tried his hand at a different sport. Nishikori gave him some basic tennis lessons, and he attempted to return Nishikori's serves. Upon hearing that the speed was roughly 150 km/h, he commented, "150 km/h in baseball isn't that fast," expressing surprise at the difference in perceived speed between sports, a realm difficult for ordinary people to comprehend. Ichiro had been hanging on to the serves, but he confessed that the team was going easy on him. In a subsequent interview, Uchida pressed Nishikori, asking, "Did you go easy on me? Or not?" to which he confessed, "I did." Ichiro is known for giving it his all even against a girls' high school baseball team, but now he's been held back by them.
