In this video, I begin a comprehensive 4-part DIY series on how to replace the timing chain and correctly set the engine timing on the legendary Honda Civic 8th Gen 2.2 i-CTDi (N22A2) engine. Remarkably, this is the very first timing chain replacement on this engine after 430,000 kilometers of driving. Part 1 focuses on the intensive teardown process required to gain access to the chain covers. What is covered in PART 1: Removing the scuttle panel under the windshield wipers for engine bay clearance. Disconnecting the electrical wiring harness from the common-rail injectors. Injector Removal: Safely extracting the high-pressure diesel injectors. Draining the engine oil and removing the lower engine bay protective covers. Unbolting the lower gearbox silent block mount attached to the oil sump. Loosening the A/C compressor brackets (without disconnecting the refrigerant lines). Removing the main turbocharger intercooler charge air pipe.
