Pepper Adams Interview
After his gig at the beautiful seaside venue (Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society) south of San Francisco, Adams is interviewed by George Hughes of KJAZ Radio in September 1977. (The interview was video taped by a television crew from San Francisco State University, apparently reusing old videotape, which was not fully erased). Two weeks prior, Adams left the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra after an eleven-year run. Adams discusses his upcoming schedule in the Bay Area, his future gigs overseas, his time with Thad/Mel, being a parent, and the New York jazz scene. This is likely the only existing video footage of Pepper Adams speaking. Note: I've reposted this video with enhanced audio.
