Very nice 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Dan Gurney Special for sale that was purchased new from Hernandez Lincoln Mercury Sales in Hayward, California in August 1967 and remained in California through its acquisition by previous seller, West Coast Classic Cougar. The A-code 289ci V8 is factory rated at 225 horsepower. It starts and runs beautifully and includes its factory smog pump (not installed). The C4 automatic transmission has been serviced with fresh fluid and a new gasket and filter. It had a recent oil and filter change, new air-cleaner element, spark plugs, points, and condenser. In addition, it has been fitted with new shocks, and the brake system was serviced with new wheel cylinders, front hoses, and a fluid flush. It has been fitted with a single-outlet exhaust, and a new-old-stock muffler has been recently installed. This is a fine running and driving XR7 with no known mechanical needs. The current mechanic-collector owner has made further improvements. It left the factory as you see it in Lime Frost Metallic with an Ivy Gold interior. It is powered by a 289ci V8 with a four-barrel carburetor backed by a C4 automatic transmission. It includes the Marti report, service records, manuals, the original sales order, and a clean California title. The exterior presents beautifully and has been repainted in its original Lime Frost Metallic, and the black vinyl roof has been re-dyed. The trim, glass, and chrome all present well. The 14" steel wheels are fitted with factory covers wrapped in 215/70 BFGoodrich Control T/A M80 tires, probably date from the 1990s. The green T-handle shifter unique to the 1967 Cougar XR-7s is present and in good shape. Instrumentation is mounted in the faux-wood dash fascia, and the car is equipped with a factory three-spoke steering wheel. Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer, along with a clock mounted in the center stack. The interior space is tidy and comfortable for even the longest drives. The interior is mostly original, very well preserved in its Dark Ivy. The front seats were recently re-upholstered in nice-quality leather. The headliner was replaced to factory standards. Even the factory air condition is in good, working order! It is equipped with a factory center console, eight-track radio, air conditioning, power steering, and power brakes.
