Genetics is a fascinating division of the human body. The genome, or genetic makeup, of all human beings is present within one cell and matures through a multitude of cell divisions to create who you are today. Environmental factors along with mutations impact the genome and can also lead to alterations in an individual's phenome. As a nursing student, understanding the genetic makeup of each human being is paramount for proper patient care.
