The DRC is rich in minerals vital to the planet. Yet the realities of its subsoil riches remain largely a closely guarded secret. Its geological maps lie hidden far from the public, in the Tervuren Museum in Belgium. This colonial legacy weighs heavily on the DRC as we approach 120 years of mining. While the Congolese population admits to knowing very little about the distribution of its own deposits, geologists and cartographers are trying to make up for this colossal backlog.
