Lake Tekapo, New Zealand completely surprised me. From unreal turquoise water and peaceful lake walks to one of the darkest night skies on Earth, this small town on New Zealand’s South Island quickly became one of my favorite places I’ve ever visited. In this video, I travel from Christchurch to Tekapo by bus, soak in hot pools overlooking the lake, experience world-class stargazing inside the Aoraki Mackenzie Dark Sky Reserve, hike up Mount John for panoramic views, kayak on glacial-blue water, and explore nearby Mount Cook National Park — including the Tasman Glacier and Hooker Valley.
