A murder. A mistaken identity. A life destroyed. In November 1997, 21-year-old sex worker Tracey Wylde was found murdered in her apartment in Glasgow, Scotland. The case went cold for over 16 years until Scottish investigators identified an Indian former student, **Sougata Mukherjee, as their prime suspect. What followed was a devastating chain of events. Based largely on suspicion and circumstantial assumptions, an Interpol Red Notice was issued, leading to Sougata's arrest in Mumbai in 2015. He spent weeks in jail, lost his career, his reputation, his home, and ultimately his health—all while maintaining his innocence. Then, in 2019, everything changed. A routine DNA sample taken from another suspect in an unrelated case revealed the real killer: Chi Min Chen. The DNA was a perfect match, and Chen confessed to the murder. By then, however, the damage to Sougata's life was irreversible. This documentary explores one of the most disturbing miscarriages of justice involving an Indian citizen—raising difficult questions about police investigations, international extradition procedures, Interpol Red Notices, and the human cost of institutional failure.
