Elmi was found 1.5 kilometers from where she initially drowned on Apparalang Cliff, Ara Village, Bontobahari District. The Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Andi Hasbullah, said on Monday (June 8, 2026) that the victim was found Sunday night. After being found, the SAR team took the victim to a funeral home in Bontokamase, Herlang District. Initially, Elmi Febrianti was visiting Apparalang Cliff with her friends. She was buffeted by the sea breeze while at the end of the board, when a large wave suddenly crashed into the pole. Elmi Febrianti did not survive, unable to swim amidst the high waves and strong winds. As she fell, Elmi Febrianti's body sank even further beneath the waves.
